Reupholstered Chairs

Which do you like better?
I recently ran a poll on my
redheadcandecorate.com Facebook page found here:
 Holy flying fabric!I had a great response…
96 comments and I bet it’s continuing as I write.
Thank you to everyone that voted.

I think it’s time to end the suspense…
Before I go any further,
I need to tell you the history behind these favorite chairs of mine.

My Mom was telling me recently that her Dad (my Grandfather whom passed away before I was born), Cyril, purchased the chairs at an estate sale for $16 total about 70 years ago (that was a lot I think). When my Mom was out on her own, she bought the chairs from my Grandfather for the same price.

The chairs stayed with our family…
I grew up with the fabric being a sage green.
Then my Brother, Bobby,
got a hold of them when he went out on his own and he changed them to a peachy/shiny fabric in the early 90’s…
here’s a picture I found:

When my brother passed away in 1995 (story found here)…
My Mom & Dad got the chairs.
My Dad reupholstered them with a nice striped pattern, but it slowly became worn. When Rick & I purchased the house we are in now (2009),
my Mom gave me the chairs.

I have been told through the years that my Grandfather, my Brother, and I all share a special “decorating sense”.

So you can imagine how much I love these chairs knowing that they both loved them as well.

My Dad was kind enough to help me put the black & white fabric on you see above.
To tell you the truth…
I knew immediately that I wasn’t happy with it,
but I have lived with it a couple years.

So, yes all you sweet Facebook voters…

“B” wins!!!!!

(“A” may have won the vote, but the redhead is the one that decorates this house…sorry guys! 🙂

This picture shows the difference very well I think…
I have lots of black, white, and brown in my house- I needed  some color. One of the facebook voters described the fabric perfectly…
“vintage feel with a current vibe”.
Love that!

Another voter said the color brings out the wood-right on!

You won’t see this fabric on every chair in a magazine, and you may think it doesn’t flow with rest of my decor…
but that’s just it.

I’m all about not flowing,
and I love the element of WOW, what’s that?

It’s different and it’s totally RCD.
I can add any one of these gorgeous colors to the sofa, or wall.
The turquoise & purple are my favorite.
My striped pillows are happy too!
Oh, and the black back ground…
a bit on the sexy side!

Here’s how easy this was…
and I used my 40% coupon at Joann Fabric’s.
Did you know you can look them up on line and print them out?
I was thinking the extra might be used for a table runner on Thanksgiving…
just fold it to the size you need, put some candles and other Fall decor on it and you are done.
We all have unique style and taste…
adding color to your home will help you stand out
from everyone else that does the same thing over & over.Don’t be afraid to be different!

Love you Papa,
Julie
