Family Room Mini-Makeover

Facebooktwitterpinterestmail
I finally did it!I have been studying my family room for quite a while.
It’s an odd shaped room, and not very big.I made the mistake of purchasing a large sofa.
I finally decided to split it up and it has helped the room lots.Another issue I had was the shelves that surround my fireplace.  The one unit is off to the side more and really makes it difficult
to place furniture.

Here it is before…actually way before.

As you can see I have plenty of issues going on.
The room is too dark, the couch is too big, I hate the maroon, and if you look closely I am actually hiding the shelf unit behind the armoire.  What the heck Jules?Last weekend I sold the curtains at the garage sale…

I also got a new rug at Home Depot because Dude our Lab had a little accident while we were having a birthday party…whoops!Thank you Dude!

Looking brighter, but I still had to move the furniture around and utilize that shelf!!

Decided to paint it like I did the other, and then I found some burlap curtains on sale at Ballard Design…info. on those found here.  It was a great price for the curtains. Here are the final pictures from today and last night.

I needed something to tie in the 2 middle panels…luckily I had this belt I never wore.  I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

We went to Hobby Lobby for the first time the other day.
I was in heaven.
That place is unbelievable!
I used the rest of my garage sale earnings to buy
the lantern there. If you prefer an electric antique lantern instead of a candle like mine, a great source
on line is found here “Link.”You should have seen Rick and I hanging that last night.
Hilarious…
Our kitchen fireplace is on the other side of that wall.
We had to be very careful.
I actually wanted it above the mirrors, but I like it here too.
The only thing missing is a nice screen for my fireplace.
I found some pretty ones here: “Link

Love the new look and the website! Lots of fun projects… Question on the sofa, was it a sectional and you removed a piece? Silly question, but I’ve never had a sectional sofa, so I wasn’t sure if they had arm pieces you could attached to a ‘new’ end when making it smaller…

    Thanks!
